Description
In 1956, Ralph P. Marble bought 400-acres of land on Nantucket's southern shore with the intention of raising cows for dairy production. Four years later, he began to build Miacomet Golf Club.
In 1963, Miacomet opened as a year-round course for islanders and visitors alike. The course drew a small constituency of golf devotees from the Tupancy Links and has been serving the Nantucket community ever since.
In the mid-1980's, Ralph Marble sold his land to the Nantucket Islands Land Bank and in 2003, an additional 9 was built across the road to make Miacomet the island's only 18-Hole public facility. The new architecture was done by new and up-incoming architect Howard Mauer.
In 2008, Howard Mauer renovated the original 9 holes to match the architecture of the entire course. The course is complete with four tee options, challenging holes, and spectacular island views.
